Chapter One Section IV

G. Onlay bone grafting increases the alveolar volume by augmenting cortical structures to the external cortex of the native bone. To become a stable ossicle suitable for osseointegration, remodeling must transform the reconstruction into a bone segment with a normal arrangement of cortex, medullary space, and overlying soft tissue.

H. The reconstruction objective is a normal ossicle with normal morphology of the cortex, medullary space, periosteum, and gingiva.
